Once again the Wille Dodge juniors from GMCC made us all proud. Our two teams displayed exceptional skill and sportsmanship at the Feb. 9th. Juan de Fuca Junior cash spiel.

Skip Ben England along with third Jocelyn Mackey, second Ben Sammons and lead Arden Grew took top prize winning “A” event.  Along with the cash prize they were voted by fellow curlers and spectators as the most sportsmanlike team.  Congratulations! - That combination is a rare accomplishment.

Skip James Mackey and third Bronson Wille, second Avery Suzuki, and lead Dawson Harris won “B” event and the cash prize. Well done guys!

Each of 8 teams entered played 3 six end games. All athletes were treated to lunch and a ton of fun. Many friends, parents, and grandparents enjoyed watching all the juniors doing their very best. The games future was on display.

Thanks goes out to Juan de Fuca for hosting such a valuable junior development event. Don Rugg, Michelle Beaulieu, and Laura Hasanen along with their sponsor, Accent Refrigeration Systems put on a first class bonspiel that all athletes will benefit from. We'll gladly be back next year!
We kept track of all shots by all players and Ben was well into 90% of his shots – well done!
Coach Al Grant

The following is a report from Grant Marshall on the results:
We played a 2 game Brandon Draw to get into the finals ..
Our mixed team made up of  Ben England (Skip)  Jocelynn Mackey (3rd)  Ben Sammons (2nd) and Arden Grew (Lead)   scored a total of 11 points out of 16 to secure 2nd place and take on the points leader (13) in the “A” event final..   They played extremely well with the front end setting up each end almost perfectly then Jocelynn and Ben finished things off. They were done in 4 ends to win the “A” event .
Meanwhile, James Mackey (Skip)  Bronson Wille (3rd)  Avery Suzuki (2nd) and Dawson Harris (Lead) tied with 10 points in the Brandon Draw and took on the tie winner in the “B” event ..   They were in total control for all 6 ends  winning the “B” event ...  Again the front end set things up for James, with Harris and Suzuki  making excellent shots.   Bronson Wille made several doubles in the last game and James came in to add points to the total.

It was a great day, and my thanks to all the parents, grandparents who came out to support us .Also a big thanks to Wille Dodge for their continued support for the Juniors ....And a big thanks to the volunteers who coach our Juniors.  Thanks Grant, Lynn, Al and all the rest of you for all your effort.
.... and most of all, congratulations to the Juniors.
